Take Your Pills Dear…

Books Comments

I cannot believe the amazing and articulate writing held inside of The Giver. It is riveting, suspenseful, and thought provoking. In my quest to find fabulous fantasy books, I have encountered more casual fun books like Pendragon, but The Giver gives Children’s Fantasy much more depth and realism, although still straying into fantastic territory. It is a must read for any person, any age, although do realize it does contain some more mature themes with which some kids will not cope well.

Start The Fantasy: Pendragon, The Merchant of Death

Books Comments

I am currently reading a book on how to write a novel that publishers will find inciting. One of the first steps is firmly choosing a genre and reading a ton of books in that category. I chose Children’s Fantasy. I have already read all of the Harry Potter novels, The Graveyard Book, The Magicians Nephew, and The Hobbit, but not much else. I decided a couple nights ago to browse Borders in search of other great Children’s Fantasy Novels. I completely ignored the entire section dedicated to Twilight and Twilight wannabe books. I chose to buy the first Pendragon novel and a couple John Newberry Medal winners like The Giver.

I just finished the first Pendragon novel last night. It was pretty good, but it definitely was not on par with Harry Potter. Still, it was an excellent and entertaining read. I might return to the series after I have read some other Fantasy novels.

Pendragon: Merchant of Death

Before I continue writing my Tommy Veneto novel I am trying to read as many other fantasy books as possible and continue my way through the novel writing book. Next on my cue is The Giver by Lois Lowry.

Deep Six Sketches Discovered!

News, Update Comments

May 2nd 1936,

Two original Deep Six comic book sketches were found today in the New York City Public Library (NYCPL)! Researchers believe these drawings belonged to the original creator, Frank Howard. The researchers also assume that these sketches were created during the planning stages of the Deep Six comic book series somewhere between 1930 and 1935. A search for more sketches is currently underway in the NYCPL.
